Our Mission

Create and advance an ambitious ocean policy agenda that promotes the goals of economic, racial, climate, and environmental justice.

Build a broad and diverse group of collaborators – centering community organizations – to put justice at the heart of U.S. ocean-climate policy.

Our Goals

  1. Convene community organizations focused on ocean justice that serve people of color and low-income communities, and engage national ocean NGOs to listen to the priorities and insights of these groups.

  2. Collaboratively develop an ambitious federal ocean-climate policy agenda, to be publicly released.

  3. Collectively advance this agenda, promoting the goals of economic, racial, climate, and environmental justice.

  4. Build a constituency for ocean climate action that looks more like America.

The Need and Opportunity

The next two years present the biggest opportunity in decades to advance climate policy through a whole-of-government administrative agenda and to marshal new investments in a clean future as part of the nation’s economic recovery.

We must ensure the ocean is included.

Critically, for ocean-climate solutions to be durable, ambitious, and just, they must be inclusive. Ocean conservation must include and elevate voices from the communities that are most affected by climate change and a decline in ocean health. These communities must exert real power in ocean decision-making, policy development, and management.
